Ram ProMaster City Returns for 2027 Fleet Buyers
Ram is bringing back the ProMaster City for 2027, giving service and delivery fleets a midsize van option with a 2,175-pound payload and early-2027 dealership timing.
A midsize van returns to the lineup
Ram is bringing the ProMaster City back for the 2027 model year, adding a smaller commercial van option below the full-size ProMaster for fleets that need cargo capacity without moving into a larger vehicle class.
Automotive Fleet reported that the returning model will be offered as a cargo van or passenger wagon. Ram is positioning it for businesses that need a maneuverable, garage-friendly van for service routes, parts delivery, passenger moves, and local work.
Payload, cargo room, and order timing
The new ProMaster City uses a turbocharged 1.6L four-cylinder engine rated at 166 hp and 221 lb.-ft. of torque. Ram is targeting 2,175 pounds of payload and 2,000 pounds of towing capacity.
The cargo area is one of the fleet-relevant pieces. Automotive Fleet's walkaround noted 167 cubic feet of cargo volume, more than 9 feet of load-floor length, and 48.9 inches between the wheel wells. The van also includes front-wheel drive, a low step-in height, available 180-degree rear swing doors or a liftgate, a digital rearview mirror, and dual 10-inch displays.
Orders are expected to open in the second half of 2026, with vehicles arriving at dealerships in the first quarter of 2027.
Why fleets will watch it
For fleets that have been stretching small vans, compact pickups, or SUVs into service duty, the returning ProMaster City adds another option to compare on payload, upfit fit, driver access, and total cost. The key test will be whether the midsize package can reduce overbuying into larger vans while still handling real route equipment and cargo.
