Chevrolet Makes More Safety Tech Standard on 2027 Small SUVs

Chevrolet will add more than 20 standard safety and driver-assistance features to the 2027 Trax and Trailblazer, two compact SUVs that can fit employee-assigned and light-duty fleet roles. The updated models are expected to open for orders in February 2027.

The change matters because safety equipment that once required a package selection is increasingly part of the starting configuration. That makes the comparison between trim levels, drivetrains and operating needs a little more straightforward for fleet spec teams.

A broader standard safety baseline

Chevrolet said both models receive an upgraded electrical and software architecture and expanded standard driver assistance. The list includes reverse automatic braking, rear cross-traffic braking, front park assist, a rear seat-belt indicator and side bicyclist alert. Adaptive cruise control, intersection automatic emergency braking and blind-zone steering assist are also standard.

For fleets that assign compact SUVs to sales, service or field staff, the practical question is not whether each feature replaces driver judgment. It is whether the equipment can be specified consistently without building a separate option strategy for every vehicle.

Two different operating profiles

The front-wheel-drive Trax receives a revised grille, wheels, LED taillamps and an updated liftgate; a power liftgate becomes available for the first time. The Trailblazer retains available all-wheel drive and adds a new Z71 configuration with all-wheel drive, an off-road-tuned suspension, skid plate and sport-terrain tires.

That gives buyers a clearer split: the Trax for straightforward urban and road use, and the Trailblazer for locations where unpaved access or changing weather belongs in the vehicle requirement.

What fleets should check

Pricing was not announced. Before placing 2027 orders, fleet teams will still want to confirm availability, package constraints, repair-network support and how the added systems affect their safety policy and replacement cycle.
