Tire Calls Move Into a Digital Workflow

Continental Tire is connecting its U.S. dealer network to myMechanic's Dealer-Connect platform, aiming to move roadside tire service from phone chains into a tracked digital workflow.

The partnership, reported by FreightWaves, is designed to carry a service request from the first alert through dispatch, status updates, documentation, and reporting. The practical target is straightforward: help fleets find the right open dealer faster when a tire problem takes a vehicle out of service.

Why the Uptime Math Matters

Roadside tire events are expensive because the repair is only one piece of the delay. FreightWaves cited myMechanic data putting breakdown losses at roughly $450 to $750 per day, with some events stretching into multi-hour delays while fleets work through calls, availability checks, and paperwork.

myMechanic says fleets using its digital dispatch process resolve roadside events about 25 minutes faster than fleets still working primarily by phone. Continental brings the dealer footprint; myMechanic brings the routing, tracking, and event record.

What Fleets Should Watch

The deal matters for service, utility, delivery, municipal, and mixed vocational fleets because it does not ask them to replace the dealer relationships they already use. It tries to make those relationships easier to activate when a vehicle is stranded.

For fleet teams already using telematics, tire monitoring, or maintenance systems, the next value is closing the gap between knowing there is a problem and getting the repair moving. That is where downtime, driver frustration, and missed work orders often pile up.
