FMCSA Gives Fleets 60 Days to Replace Revoked ELDs
FMCSA has added another group of devices to its revoked ELD list, following 10 July removals. Carriers using affected devices must move to registered ELDs within the agency's 60-day window.

Another ELD Revocation Window Opens
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has revoked another group of electronic logging devices, giving fleets and drivers using affected systems 60 days to replace them with compliant ELDs from the agency's registered-device list.
Heavy Duty Trucking reported that FMCSA recently revoked five more ELDs after removing 10 devices in July. The agency said the devices failed to meet minimum requirements under federal hours-of-service rules.
September and October Deadlines
For the August revocations, fleets using affected devices must replace them before October 6, 2026. The July group carries an earlier September 8, 2026 replacement deadline.
FMCSA says carriers and drivers should discontinue use of revoked devices, use paper logs or logging software to record required hours-of-service data during the transition, and move to a compliant ELD before the deadline. After the 60-day window, continued use can be treated as a "No record of duty status" violation under 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1), and drivers can be placed out of service under CVSA criteria.
What Fleet Teams Should Check
The immediate fleet task is to compare current ELD vendors and model numbers against the revoked list, then document the replacement plan before the compliance window closes. For mixed or outsourced operations, this also means checking third-party carrier requirements and making sure any affected subcontracted vehicles are not creating hours-of-service exposure for the broader program.
