Mack Adds Lock & Leave for OTA Truck Updates
Mack will let drivers start eligible over-the-air software updates, lock the truck and walk away while the vehicle completes the install and powers down.

Drivers Can Start Updates and Walk Away
Mack Trucks is adding a Lock & Leave feature to its over-the-air software update platform, giving drivers a simpler way to run eligible updates during normal downtime. Once a driver starts an update through Driver Display Activation, the driver can exit, lock the truck and leave while the vehicle completes the install.
After installation, the truck powers down on its own and is ready for service when the driver returns. Mack said the feature is expected to be available this fall after final validation.
Built Around Fleet Downtime
The goal is to make software updates less disruptive as connected trucks take on more remote service campaigns, parameter updates and performance improvements. Fleets can schedule updates overnight, at the end of a shift or during rest breaks instead of routing equipment through a dealership for every software change.
The same workflow could help maintenance teams update multiple vehicles in sequence. A technician can start an eligible update on one truck and move to the next instead of waiting at each unit until the install is complete.
OTA Volume Keeps Growing
Mack said its OTA platform completed more than 50,000 remote software updates over the past 12 months with a 99.99% success rate. For fleets, the feature is another sign that software maintenance is becoming part of ordinary truck uptime planning, not a separate shop event.
