Ram Brings Back Its Smaller Commercial Van

Ram is returning to the midsize commercial van market with the 2027 ProMaster City, giving delivery, service, trade and passenger fleets another option below the full-size ProMaster.

The new van starts at $39,995 including a $2,595 destination charge. Production is scheduled to begin in 2026, with vehicles expected to reach U.S. dealers in the first quarter of 2027.

Cargo And Passenger Layouts

Ram will offer the ProMaster City in Tradesman and SLT trims, with both cargo van and passenger wagon configurations. The passenger wagon seats five as standard, with an available third row that raises capacity to eight.

For cargo users, Ram says the van will offer six window-and-panel combinations, rear swing doors or an available rear liftgate, and 11 total configurations. The package is aimed at upfit flexibility: Ram has positioned major systems forward of the cargo area to preserve usable rear space.

Fleet Specs To Watch

The 2027 ProMaster City uses a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder rated at 166 hp and 221 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

Fleet-relevant numbers include more than 167 cubic feet of cargo capacity, a 111-inch load floor, more than 2,000 pounds of payload, and up to 2,000 pounds of towing capacity with the available Class 3 hitch. The cargo area measures 54 inches high, leaves more than 48 inches between the wheel wells, and keeps overall height under 80 inches for many garages and tight urban facilities.
