Altec, Heil and Paccar Face Commercial Recalls
New NHTSA notices cover braking-system calibration, CNG ladder hardware, and seat-ventilation wiring on vocational trucks and heavy-duty models.

Three commercial notices to check
NHTSA has issued new commercial-vehicle recall notices covering Altec vocational equipment, Heil refuse trucks, and Paccar heavy-duty models. The campaigns are small compared with passenger-vehicle recalls, but each points to a practical fleet risk: braking response, CNG fuel-system damage, or electrical short circuits.
FleetOwner's September 1 recall roundup also included a large Chrysler rearview-camera campaign, but the more operationally specific items for vocational and heavy-duty fleets are the Altec, Heil, and Paccar notices.
Altec and Heil campaigns
Altec is recalling certain 2019-2026 AN Series, 2023 AA Series, 2022-2026 Digger Derrick, and 2025 AM Series vehicles. The issue involves a Bendix automatic braking system that was not recalibrated after relocation of the front radar box, creating the possibility of delayed braking response. The notice potentially affects 55 vehicles, with owner letters expected October 16.
Heil is recalling certain 2016-2026 front loader garbage trucks equipped with replacement CNG tailgate ladder kits. An incorrect bolt can contact and damage CNG cylinders, creating a fuel-leak and fire risk. That campaign potentially affects 654 vehicles, with owner letters expected October 8.
Paccar wiring issue
Paccar is recalling certain 2027 Peterbilt 567, 579, and 589 trucks, along with 2027 Kenworth T680, T880, and W990 models. The seat ventilation harness may be missing heat-shrink protection, which can cause a short circuit and increase fire risk. The campaign potentially affects 811 vehicles, and dealers are expected to replace the harnesses.
Fleet teams should match affected units by VIN, watch for dealer notices, and schedule repairs around routes or shop windows before the October mail dates create a rush for appointments.
