Mercedes-Benz Launches Robotaxi Push with NVIDIA and Uber, Overhauls Fleet Sales
Mercedes-Benz is restructuring its fleet sales organization with regional managers while accelerating a Level 4 autonomous taxi program built on the S-Class, with NVIDIA, Uber, and Momenta as partners.

New Fleet Business Structure Goes Regional
Mercedes-Benz has rolled out a new fleet business development structure, introducing regional Business Development Managers and an International Key Account Manager to deliver more specialized, proactive support for fleet programs. The restructuring, announced in March 2026, is designed to give fleet customers dedicated regional expertise rather than routing everything through centralized account teams.
The move reflects a broader trend among automakers -- as the fleet market becomes more competitive, account management depth matters as much as the vehicles themselves. Fleet customers managing hundreds or thousands of vehicles want relationships with people who understand their operations. Mercedes has not disclosed headcount or specific geographic territories for the new structure.
Level 4 Robotaxi Program Adds NVIDIA, Uber, and Momenta
Mercedes-Benz is accelerating development of a Level 4 robotaxi ecosystem built on the new S-Class platform, with three major partners: NVIDIA for compute and AI infrastructure, Uber for ride-hail distribution, and Momenta, the Chinese autonomous driving company. The program targets future driverless shuttle operations in global markets.
Level 4 autonomy means the vehicle can handle all driving tasks within a defined geographic area without human intervention. The S-Class as a robotaxi platform signals that Mercedes intends to compete in the premium autonomous mobility segment. No commercial deployment timeline has been announced.
Ford, GM, and Verizon Move on Fleet Technology
The Mercedes announcements land as competitors also upgrade their fleet offerings. Ford is giving its commercial fleet business an AI makeover, while General Motors launched Drive Block -- an anti-theft system specifically designed for fleet customers to deter vehicle theft across large inventories. Both moves reflect how automakers are using software and services to deepen relationships with fleet buyers beyond the point of sale.
Verizon has also entered the small business fleet management market with new telematics and tracking solutions, adding a major carrier to a space already crowded with specialized providers. For small fleet operators who are already Verizon customers, bundled telematics may simplify procurement.
Fleet Media Consolidation: Bobit Acquires Roadz Portfolio
In a notable development, Bobit Business Media acquired key assets from Roadz's partner portfolio in February 2026 to expand The Fleet Source platform. The deal accelerates API-first, AI-ready connections across fleet technology systems -- building an integration layer that links the various tools fleet managers use daily.
Fleet technology consolidation tends to benefit operators who have invested in connected ecosystems: the more platforms talk to each other, the more value each delivers. As the market matures, expect more infrastructure-level deals shaping how fleet data flows between vendors, automakers, and operators.
