Swift, FleetForce Open CDL Training Hub in Mobile
Swift Transportation and FleetForce are opening CDL training at Swift's Mobile terminal, giving Alabama fleets another driver pipeline near the state port.

Training moves inside the terminal
Swift Transportation and FleetForce Truck Driver Training are launching commercial driver training and certification at Swift's terminal in Mobile, Alabama.
The partnership gives FleetForce its first Alabama location and expands the company's training footprint beyond Florida, North Carolina and Texas. The companies said the program is meant to create a direct path from CDL training into employment while also giving current Swift employees another advancement route.
Why Mobile matters
Mobile is a logical place to build the pipeline. The city is home to Alabama's only seaport and sits inside a freight market where trucking handles about 75% of freight entering, leaving or moving through the state, according to FleetForce.
FleetForce CEO Tra Williams said the program is a response to demand for qualified drivers in a state that depends heavily on trucking. Swift recruiting vice president Kort Chase said the carrier is focused on building the next generation of safe, productive transportation professionals.
The workforce angle
The Alabama Trucking Association says the state's trucking sector supported 37,370 jobs in 2023 and generated more than $7.6 billion in wages. That makes training capacity more than a recruiting issue for large carriers; it is part of the regional freight infrastructure.
For fleets, the useful part is proximity. Training tied to an operating terminal can shorten the distance between classroom work, yard practice, certification and hiring, especially in markets where driver demand and freight volumes are both moving.
