Do-not-drive warnings hit Volvo and Mack trucks

New NHTSA recall notices include do-not-drive warnings for certain Volvo and Mack trucks because wheel lug nuts may loosen and allow a wheel to detach.

The June 8 recall roundup from Trucks, Parts & Service says Volvo Trucks is recalling certain 2026 VAH, 2026-2027 VN, VHD, VNL, and 2027 VNR trucks. NHTSA lists 155 units as potentially affected.

Mack Trucks is recalling certain 2026 Anthem, 2026-2027 Pioneer PR, Pinnacle, Granite, and 2027 Anthem AN trucks for the same wheel-lug-nut issue. NHTSA lists 644 units as potentially affected.

Bus and work-truck fleets have other checks

The same NHTSA batch includes an International recall covering certain 2026-2027 IC Bus EVSB school buses. The drive motor mounting bracket bolts may have been improperly tightened, which could allow the drive motor to detach. NHTSA lists 125 units as potentially affected.

Work Truck's broader June recall overview also flags pickup, van, SUV, medium-duty, and heavy-duty issues, including 2023-2026 Ram 2500 trucks with a powertrain software issue that may allow vehicle speed to exceed the tire speed rating.

What fleets should do now

For maintenance and safety teams, the practical move is straightforward: run affected VINs through OEM or NHTSA recall tools, park any do-not-drive units until the remedy is complete, and document the inspection or repair status in the maintenance record.

Recall work can look routine until it lands on a vehicle that is scheduled for a route. The do-not-drive language makes these notices worth checking before dispatch, not during the next planned service interval.
